FAQ's

Q: Do you take custom orders?

A: Not at this time. I concentrate on my models and various one-of-a-kinds. It's best to email or call and check what's on the bench or in the works.

Q; Do you build guitars with humbucking pickups?

A: No. Single coils all the way. A design feature of my guitars is balance across all the pickups volume settings so you can switch positions and not have to adjust your attack or volume. Mating a p90 with it's wide magnetic field w/ a traditional sized bridge pickup (t90 model) works best with low output, 50's style P90's.David Budz and I spent quite a while field testing and dialing the P90 neck and bridge pickups.

Q: Do you relic guitars?

A: I'm a fan of reliced guitars but i can't bring myself to damage the lacquer finishes after spending X number of hours, weeks and months attending to them. But my finishes are thin, lacquer is easy to scratch and chip with normal stage use so I encourage owners to have at it and relic in the natural way. In fact if you like the bright and shiny forever type finishes of the family of Poly, lacquer isn't for you.

Q: Is there special care needed for Nitro Cellulose Lacquer finishes?

A: Yes.

Keep lacquer finishes away from bug spray and heavy duty solvents like lacquer thinner.

If you use a stand, make certain the contact points are lacquer friendly. I use Guitar Hanger Bras on my display rack, there's also Guitar Stand Bras on the market for stands. Use a good wax/cleaner (see below).

zymol

Don't store your nitro-finished guitars with a strap across the lacquer for extended periods.

Play it, let it age.

Q: Do you recommend a polish?

A: I'll let you'all in on a secret, Zymol Z503 Car Cleaner Wax is the best stuff hands down. Smells great and it's all natural.  "Made from the highest grade of ingredients that are derived from nature, including gentle cleansing lemon oil, and aloe vera emollient to help prevent dulling and spotting. Contains coconut oil for natural cleansing of even the most sensitive paint finishes."
